EMINENT SOUNDTRACK PIANIST TO PERFORM AT SCOUT HOUSE FEB 6
You've heard her folk and classical improvisational piano playing on the soundtracks of over a dozen of Ken Burns' PBS documentaries, including his Grammy award-winning Civil War, his Emmy award-winning Baseball, Lewis and Clark, Mark Twain, The War and his recently-premiered The National Parks: America's Best Idea. Now hear her on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Wine Tasting at the Concord Scout House. She is Jacqueline Schwab, who in the words of documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, "…brings more feeling and intensity to music than anyone I know. Her playing is insistent, physical, heartfelt and ... unusually moving." Asked why she is eager to perform for this Scout House Restoration event, Jacqueline Schwab says "Since the early 1970's, I've played for many dances and attended even more events at the Scout House. The hall, for me, evokes memories of the rafters resounding with the sounds of wonderful music and very happy people, dancing together, in the friendly, welcoming dance community." An honors graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Jacqueline has performed at the White House for President Clinton and also, with singer Jean Redpath, on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion and CBS' Late Show with David Letterman (on May 21, 2009). She has been performing solo concerts across the United States, and is now returning to bring extra excitement to an already exciting Concord event.
