GOLF AND MORE AT THE CONCORD COUNTRY CLUBImage

There’s the golf, and then there is the silent auction. On August 20, 2012 at the Concord Country Club, the Rotary Club of Concord will hold its annual Thomas R. Huckins Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Concord Carlisle Scholarship Fund. Golfing on the premier course, with lunch and dinner and prizes, is fun in itself. But the silent auction, also benefitting the Scholarship Fund, offers some unique items, large and small, that will bring pleasure long after the tournament is over.

Among these is a timeshare for a prime week in January at Innseasons Resorts at Pollard Brook in the heart of the spectacular White Mountains of New Hampshire, adjacent to the Loon Mountain Ski area. This prime week, the second week in January from Saturday to Saturday, is the highest level for use in an exchange program for travel (even for a cruise!) or you may simply want to use it to enjoy skiing and other winter sports. The suite sleeps four with one bedroom, fireplace, living area, private viewing deck and fully stocked kitchen.  Onsite amenities at this first class resort include indoor and outdoor pools, playground, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, locker room, sauna, spa/hot tub, fitness center, game room, laundry facilities and complimentary shuttle service to Loon Mountain during ski season. Nearby are great hiking and biking trails, rivers, restaurants, and shopping. Thirty minutes from Lake Winnipesaukee. To learn more see the video at www.innseasonsresorts, Pollard Brook.

The Rotary Club of Concord invites the public to participate in its 24th annual golf event. The shotgun start is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., preceded by registration and lunch from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Cocktails and dinner are at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee of $250 includes 18 holes of golf at one of New England’s finest courses, use of the putting green, golf cart, lunch, clubhouse reception and dinner, tournament gifts and refreshments. Mulligans will be available for purchase. There will be a silent auction and more. Play in a foursome of your choosing or be assigned to a foursome.

In order to give more scholarships, Rotary would like to top last year’s proceeds, as financial aid is especially important during tough economic times. In addition to golfers, Rotary is seeking sponsors and Rotary would be grateful for any gifts of support. Make your check payable to Concord Rotary Charitable Endowment, Inc. and mail to Rotary Club of Concord c/o Maurer, PO Box 354, Concord, MA 01742.
