The Shelter Box, replete with assembled tent and contents, has been on display at many sites. In the tent at the Concord Free Public Library, Rotarian Paul D'Oliveira chatted with children about life in Haiti and how we can help.
Visitors stopped at Hunt Gym, the Concord Free Public Library, First Religious Society in Carlisle, and Harvey Wheeler Community Center to see the Shelter Box. They were impressed with the quality and utility of this weather-proof ten-person tent and its survival essentials, including insulated ground sheets, stove and cooking utensils, water containers & water purificaton kits, basic tool kit, children's activity kit and more. The Rotary Club of Concord has donated funds for 20 ShelterBoxes (and thanks to the help of individuals, businesses and congregations, more are on the way). The Rotary Club of Concord has applied for a $35,000 grant to help rebuild St. Joseph's School. High speed internet and VolP phones will be installed, funded by business partners and friends of Paul Bryan, Inc. Rotarians are also spearheading an e-learning program to teach computer skills and courses for primary and secondary education so graduating students can earn living wages. YOU CAN HELP! MAKE CHECKS TO CONCORD ROTARY CHARITABLE ENDOWMENT, INC. Write Shelter Box on the memo line. MAIL TO ROTARY CLUB OF CONCORD, PO BOX 455, CONCORD, 01742. THANKS!
