Our club was very involved in celebrating the town of Concord's 250th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War. On Friday April 18th we started preparations for serving coffee to parade participants. Several Rotarians lead by Hilary Taylor and Ingrid Detweiler met at Emerson field to set up the tent and tables. After that, many Concord Rotarians headed over to Ann Trudeau's house to work on the float for the parade. A large flat bed truck was generously loaned to us by Acorn Deck House Company. Featuring a huge syringe (made by Ann Trudeau and Rick Copeland) representing polio shots and surrounded with signage depicting all our service projects, the float was a wonder to behold! Bright and early Saturday morning at 6AM Rotarians arrived at Emerson field to serve coffee and pastries generously donated by Concord Teacakes and Dunkins. Then we began marching in the parade with a banner that said, Ending Polio- The Shot FELT 'Round The World, followed by our amazing float. The day could not have been better and our club was proud to be a part of such a momentous occasion!
