Like Jazz? Or the vibes of New Orleans? Maybe even a Bach fugue?  You can hear it all, played by one of the most prestigious community bands in the country. The award-winning Concord Band, with singer/trumpeter Christine Fawson, will present a rocking Spring Pops concert Friday April 7 and Saturday April 8 at Concord’s Center for the Performing Arts, “51 Walden”. The Rotary Club of Concord is sponsoring Friday night’s performance to benefit the Concord Integrated Preschool Playground and Saturday night’s concert will benefit the Band.  Reservations for the pops-style seating may be made for Friday night by calling 978-394-5158.

The Rotary Club chose the Concord Integrated Preschool Playground as the beneficiary of its 42nd Spring Pops because it offers many children with special needs the freedom to play on accessible outdoor equipment in a safe environment.  Rotary volunteers look forward to helping build this important addition to Ripley building’s outdoor space.

On Friday night, come as early as 7:00 p.m. to browse the silent auction items, enjoy refreshments and the cash bar.  Bid on sports tickets, airline tickets, vacation getaways, jewelry, and much more.  At 8:00 p.m. sit at a table with your friends to hear “Boston Liberties”, a Concord Band commission by Julie Giroux.  After Bach and Ellington, Christine Fawson will take the stage, singing and playing the trumpet in her astonishing renditions of jazz favorites.  Music Director James O’Dell has put together a program that will keep you tapping your feet until the very end. Don’t miss it.
