At a joint meeting with the Acton-Boxborough Rotary Club on March 16th we had a wonderful guest speaker, Alexandra DePalo, executuive director of Open Table food pantry in Maynard. Our club has been very active in supporting Open Table by volunteering every Tuesday to cook meals. We have also organized many food drives throughout the years and are currently  partnering with the Acton-Boxborough Rotary Club to collect personal care items which are not covered by SNAP programs.

Our two clubs also applied for a matching grant from Rotary District 7910 in support of Open Table. Each club contributed funds raised by our members as part of the grant.  At our meeting we presented Alexandra with a check for $5,000 to help defray the cost of personal care items which they provide for their clients More and more people are turning to food pantries as the supplemental funding programs associated with the pandemic are ending. Open Table’s mission is to end hunger in our local community by providing healthy food in ways that respect the dignity and diversity of those served. Rotary's contributions go a long way to help with their mission and we look forward to partnering with other Rotary Clubs in the District for future fund raising efforts and food drives.
