The Rotary Club of Concord held its annual Al Filipov Award for Courage and Service via Zoom on September 11. Award winners were Firefighter Brendan Lyons from the Concord Fire Department and Sergeant Joseph Connell from the Concord Police Department. Each year our club presents these awards in memory of Al Filipove, a beloved Concordian who demonstrated the power of one individual to make a positive difference, Filipov died in the crash of American Airlines Flight 11 in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.
