On this 25th Anniversary of the terrorists attacks of 9/11 we presented the annual Al Filipov Awards to our local Concord Police, Fire and Emergency Communications Departments. Rotarian Sharon Spaulding has been the organizer of this Rotary event since it's beginning. Starting at 8:30 AM with Lexington Rotarian, Gardy Desrouleaux, singing God Bless America, the day was a moving remembrance of all those lost on that horrific day in 2001. Reverend Rebecca Floyd Marshall of Tri Con Church said the opening prayer followed by welcoming remarks by Rotary President Liz Cobbs. Rotarian Peggy Lanari lead us in a moment of silence and Sharon Spaulding shared remarks and reflections. 
Concord Fire Chief, Brian Whitney, presented the Al Filpov Award for Courage and Service to Assistant Chief, Sean Murphy. A donation to the Folds of Honor will be made in Sean Murphy's name. Presenting the Al Filipov award to Officer Michael Crowe was Police Captain Brian Goldman. A donation in Officer Crowe's name will be made to Folds of Honor in his name. Safety Dispatchers Elle Ludwig and Erich Robichaud were presented the Al Filipov awards by ECC Manager Stephen James Johnson. Donations will be made to Winchester Hospital Special Care Nursery in Elle Ludwig's name and to March of Dimes in Erich Robichaud's name.
Rotary District 7910 Governor Penny Hamel and Concord Rotary President Liz Cobbs spoke a little about Rotary and the ways we serve our communities and the world through service projects. Closing the ceremony on a positive note, Rotarian Steve Levitsky, spoke about September 11th being a National Day of Service so that we can honor the lives lost through doing good. Starting at noon our club partnered with the Concord Police Department and Crosby Market to Stuff a Cruiser with food items to benefit Open Table in Maynard Ma.
