Happy or Sad Fines:
 
1)         Therese Oliver was happy that Sean Smith arranged to have an Oktoberfest handout given with a bill to each Colonial Inn customer.
 
2)         Doug Detweiler congratulated the Colonial Inn on receiving permission from the Board of Selectmen to serve meals on its porch in any seasonable weather throughout the year.
 
3)         Ruth Armknecht was happy that her daughter was coming from Atlanta for her CCHS class reunion, but Ruth was happy and sad because she is going back with her daughter to Atlanta for the winter.
 
4)         Chris Alphen was happy that his daughter will be using Constant Contact to send out a second Oktoberfest announcement.
 
5)         Therese Oliver was happy that she and Theresa Espinola both got TIPS certified in anticipation of the Oktoberfest event.
 
6)         Sheila Watts was happy that she spent the last week in Florida visiting her sister.
 
7)         Dick Hale was happy to announce that his first great grandchild is due in May.
 
8)         Steve Kirk is happy that he has been in business for 24 years.
 
9)         Frank Rigg was happy to report that his two ½ year old grandson had developed to the point of asking how the New York Mets had done during his mother’s meeting with friends.
 
Announcements:
 
1)         Chris Alphen reminded the meeting about Oktoberfest and complimented Leigh Ann Crimmings on her great effort to make the event a success.
 
2)         Dave Robertson reminded the meeting that he was in the process of creating a spouses’ email list for the Club to use.  He asked members to email their spouse’s email address to him, davidorobertson@hotmail.com.
 
3)         Steve Kirk had Rotary Club of Concord business cards made up and left a number on each table for members to take with them and use
 
Program: Club Update Day
 
1)         Public RelationsJune Grace.
We now have a large, active committee.  We have a new Club Tagline “Serving Concord, Carlisle and Surrounding Towns”.  The video on our Facebook page has had 2,300 views.  Judy Carlough filmed a new Public Service Announcement that is running daily on CCTV.
 
2)         Youth ProgramsSharon Spaulding.
The Interact Club at CCHS is now 7 years old.  Its members will be assisting the Rotary Club of Lexington to prepare meals in its Stop Hunger Now event.  The Interact Club will take part in Oktoberfest.
 
We have started an Earlyact Club at the Carlisle Middle School.  It meets on Fridays at 7:00 a.m.
 
We will be holding a bowling event once again with Minuteman ARC.  Details will follow.
 
We started a lending library for kids ages 6 – 11 at Mary’s House in Waltham.
 
3)         Veterans Administration Hospital SupportSharon Spaulding.
 
On Veterans Day we will join the Rotary Club of Bedford and the Rotary Club of Lexington to serve lunch to veterans at the VA Hospital in Bedford, 200 Springs Road, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Volunteers are welcome.  Contact Sharon at 978-371-0800.  We will meet at the campus chapel, Building 81.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.
 
4)         Bristol LodgeJohn Dow.
We will be serving dinner at Bristol Lodge in Waltham on November 8, vote first and come help.  Contact John Dow at 978-369-9906, if you are interested in helping.  The meal will be a turkey dinner.
 
5)         MembershipTherese Oliver
Therese will be holding a membership meeting once a month.  Details to follow.
Sue Kirk created a new membership page for the Club website.
The meeting viewed a new membership video.
 
6)         FoundationSteve Levitsky and Hillary Taylor
The meeting viewed a new foundation video featuring Steve.
The District is asking each Rotarian in the district to add $26.50 to the member’s annual individual donation.  This is the amount of the first donation to the Rotary Foundation, 100 years ago.
 
Door Prize:
 
Hillary Taylor won the door prize, a bottle of wine.

CONCORD OFFERS ADDITIONAL MEETING OPPORTUNITY
 Are you an early bird? Can’t do lunch? The Rotary Club of Concord has added a second meeting to their weekly schedule.  Rotarians and their guests may now attend a breakfast meeting from 7:30 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. at the Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Square in Concord. Featuring a hearty breakfast and an informal format, the meeting fits the bill for those who want to be part of Rotary’s many activities, but cannot make a luncheon meeting. Full attendance credit will be given to Concord Rotarians and Rotarians visiting from other clubs.  Please drop in and experience an inspiring start to your day. Learn about upcoming Rotary projects and discuss timely topics.
