Happy or Sad Fines:
Kevin paid a fine for Rotarians in the news as he saw Steve Verrill on Chronicle.
Leigh Ann paid a fine for being happy to be in the Club and meeting new people, which lead to a successful fishing trip with Steve Kirk.
Steve Kirk presented Sheila with a Frozen Fishing Rod as it’s the delight of any little girl.
Announcements:
Steve Kirk reminded members to shop locally and support local businesses.
Steve also reminded members that there are opportunities to present to the meeting about your business or special passion. Holding the third Thursday of each month for a member speaker.
Board meeting tonight at Newbury Court.
Golf is August 22 and still need golfers. There will be 4 Pats tickets auctioned off with lots of additional benefits connected to the outing. Rick Beers announced that Larry Smith donated Sox tickets, Steve L. a round at Butterbrook and Rick B. a round at Wayland. Steve K. reminded people that he provided some social media materials that can be sent to friends and neighbors to encourage golfers to attend the event.
Dave Robertson reminded the club that we are organizing a soccer clinic with the Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley next Wednesday at 5:30PM at their facility in Maynard. Rick Copland will be running the clinic.
We still need volunteers to help with the Council on Aging cookout on August 24 at 4:30. Contact John Dow to help.
Steve K announced the membership committee met last week and had some good ideas to engage new and potential members.
Program:
Steve K introduced Deb Yong who is a reference service employee at the Concord Public Library. Deb introduced Lynda.com to the club. Lynda.com is a resource available to library card holders that provides access to a very wide variety of online courses for what seemed to be an infinite number of subjects. Deb went through some of the features and search option for the online resource and how you build your own list of content that interests you. For most materials you receive a certificate for completion of courses, so it can have real world application for people trying to build new skills. If you aren’t a Concord resident and don’t have a library card, you can get access through the Boston Public Library where you only have to be a MA resident to be issued a card.
Door Prize:
Deb Yong was the lucky winner of the door prize.
