Members of two of Concord’s most active service organizations, the Rotary Club of Concord and the Concord Lion’s Club, will join for an informal mixer on February 17 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Middlesex Savings Bank, 64 Main Street, Concord Center. If you are a Rotarian or a Lion, or an alumnus or friend of these groups, please join us.

You have no doubt encountered Lions serving a Patriot’s Day Pancake breakfast and Rotarians serving frozen slush at Picnic in the Park on the Fourth of July.  Both groups sponsor community entertainment events, Rotary’s Spring Pops with the Concord Band (this year on April 10) and the Lion’s Magic Show in November. Lions will be serving a Valentine senior luncheon at the Council on Aging. In August, Rotarians grilled burgers and hotdogs for an old fashioned cookout at the Council on Aging.  Whether it be through an ongoing project of international scope, like Rotary’s efforts to stamp out polio or Lion’s work to prevent blindness, or a local fundraiser like a golf tournament or a classic car show to underwrite local outreach projects, both organizations strive to meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding.

Together these service groups offer their dedicated members many opportunities to serve Concord and the wider world. Presidents of both organizations work at Middlesex Savings Bank: Sheila Watts of Rotary as Retail Lending Officer-Residential Mortgage Lender and Karen Dunnigan as Customer Service Representative. Thanks to their hospitality, Rotarians and Lions will be swapping stories at the “Mixer.”
