Happy or Sad Fines:
  • Dave Robertson is happy that the soccer clinic led by Rick Copland with the Acton Boys and Girls Club went so well.  There were 47 boys and girls attending.
  • Steve Kirk is happy that he had a meeting at MIT’s Lincoln Lab, but sad that it involved so much walking that he aggravated his back.
  • Frank Rigg is sad that he missed the soccer clinic at the Boys and Girls Club.
  • Sharon Spaulding honored Dave Robertson for all he does for the club and the community.
  • Ruth Armknecht is back from Michigan where she had a good visit with her sister.
  • Helen Halloran is happy that her oldest grandson just took his first two steps. (Watch out Helen, get your track shoes ready!)
  • Jean Goldsberry had two inspection survey visits to British Columbia and Ireland.
  • June Grace is happy for a great vacation with eight grandkids and two great grands and their friends, all of whom passed muster.
  • Steve Kirk sends kudos to June for all the work she has done with the PR committee and getting articles in the Concord Journal.

Program:
Florence Goulet did a last minute fill in for the speaker and talked about her recent trip to Africa.  She traveled to Uganda and Kenya where she visited several schools and an orphanage.  She took school supplies donated by Rotary members.  One of the schools she visited is the one which received our $35,000 grant to build a second building.  Most of the children she met go to school with no shoes.  They are very poor.  Florence wants these children to have things she didn’t have growing up – like running water.
Florence also visited seven Rotary clubs and brought back banners from two of them.

Next Week’s Meeting:
Next regular meeting is at 12:15pm on Thursday, September 1st at the Colonial Inn
